Galatasaray vs Porto August 3, 2013

Galatasaray take on FC Porto in the opening game of the pre-season 2013 Emirates Cup on Saturday evening. Hosts Arsenal vs Napoli match will start later in the day.

Fatih Terim's side Galatasaray come into this game after a 3-1 defeat to Napoli earlier this week. Goran Pandev opened the scoring for Rafael Benitez's side but his strike was cancelled by Nordin Ambarat in the second half. Late goals from Dany Nounkeu and Fernando Muslera handed the Turks a first pre-season defeat.
Last month, Galatasaray managed a 3-3 draw at home against Spanish Malaga before registering comfortable victories over League One sides Notts County and Shrewsbury Town. The Super Lig champions will be keen to win against Porto, particularly since they face hosts Arsenal on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Porto football club enter this game after a 1-0 win over Spanish side Celta Vigo. The Portuguese champions are in the middle of an impressive run, with five pre-season wins. Paulo Fonseca's side have conceded only twice in those games and both of them came in the 4-2 defeat of Venezuelan club Deportivo Anzoategui.
Fonseca is keen to continue this excellent start and rates the Emirates Cup very highly. The 40-year-old only recently took the reins at Estadio do Dragao, following Vitor Pereira's departure.
"We are looking forward to playing Galatasaray and Napoli, who often compete in the Champions League. These games will be two good tests for us and our improvement as a team"

Team line ups and match information:
Galatasaray and FC Porto will face off Saturday in the Emirates Cup 2013.
The tournament features four clubs engaging in four matches. Galatasaray will take on Arsenal on Sunday after Saturday’s game with FC Porto.
Galatasaray midfielder Emmanuel Eboue of Galatasaray has already professed an excitement about playing Arsenal in the tournament.

“I still speak to several of the guys regularly – Bacary Sagna and Abou Diaby for example – and sometimes [manager] Arsène Wenger too,” Eboue told the Official Matchday Programme. “I always want to hear news from the club because I am a big supporter of them. I’m a Galatasaray player now, but I am still in love with Arsenal and I always watch their games.
“The club only did good things for me, and I never had any trouble from anybody,” he added.
“My only bad day was that game against Wigan, but that was something you must be ready for as football player. I will never, ever forget Arsenal or its supporters and I cannot wait to see them again.”

Before he takes on his old team, Eboue will have to deal with an FC Porto squad that has lost a number of its top players this summer; the Portuguese champs lost James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho to Monaco.
Porto will take on Napoli on Sunday in its second game.
The winner of each game earns three points. Each goal scored is also awarded a point. The team with the most points lifts the trophy.
